Welcome to my Studio

Bibi in her studio

I began my art studies at Les Beaux Art de Poitiers in France.

After two years there, I moved to England and studied part time over a period of five years at Child's Hill Art College.

My main focus was weaving and carpet making.

Fiber Picture
Beginning of a wool fiber picture.
First, I draw the design on the burlap.

Everything I make is a unique, one-of-a-kind object. Larger needlework pictures are made on burlap. Smaller ones on cotton. First, I create the drawing. Then I make the image come alive with colorful wool fibers, cotton fibers on the smaller ones.

My handbags are hand knitted, made of wool. Some designs incorporate wood that offers a box-like effect

Bowls and platters are hand painted with designs of my own inspiration. Safe for cold foods, the pieces are finished with a polyeurathane.

Off to New Adventures in Greece

After finishing my formal studies, my next move took me to the Ionian island of Lefkas in Greece, famous for carpet making and fabric weaving. There, I apprenticed for five years. In 1979, I met my husband Lucien, better known as LuLu. He is a well known metal sculptor.

Since we lived on a boat, I could no longer work at a large loom. So I developed a different technique to practice my art.

After cruising for many years in the Mediterranean, we crossed the Atlantic and settled in Gulfito, Costa Rica for a time. And then we sailed to an island in Panama, where we settled for several more years before coming to the States. And now, we live in West Virginia.

Bibi Knitting

Here I am sitting in my favorite chair in my living room, knitting a new handbag.

While LuLu sits across from me, reading a cook book. He likes making bread.
