Teen Institute
East Hardy sent about 15 people to RESA VIII Teen Institute this year at the West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Romney. Teen Institute is a drug and alcohol awareness program, and the people who went to TI are high school students.
Students take three workshops about issues that teens face in the 90's, such as peer pressure, self-esteem, and the effects of drinking and taking drugs.
Aside from the three workshops, attendees are provided breakfast, lunch, and pizza for dinner, and afterwards there is a dance. Attendees are giving recreation time in the afternoon where they can swim or play basketball. Most schools that attend TI also write and perform skits.
Many people that attend Teen Institute agree that it is very fun and a good learning experience.
